Review: Esqido Gel Pencil Eyeliner

I might not be one of those amazing Youtube beauty bloggers but ever since my teens I have loved LOVED eye makeup. It’s my thing. I love combining different colours and blending like mad. I fell in love with eyeliner during my Gothic years and have never really looked back.

I am naturally quite fair and I’ve been told that although I have lots of eyelashes they are light in colour and therefore I need some help when defining my eye area. I love the bright blue colour of my eyes and framing them is important to me, that’s where eyeliner comes in.

Am I an artist when it comes to the perfect cat-flick? No, I am not, but I really love the effect of having a good, thick black liner which draws attention to my eyes and always enjoy testing out new products to find the best ones for wearing all day at work, or for going out in the evening.

I have tried all manner of eyeliners – pencils and liquids, however, I hadn’t yet tried a gel product, so when I was offered the chance to try Esqido’s Gel Pencil Eyeliner I was excited to give it a go and see how it compared.

Esqido describes itself as being the world’s leading brand of mink and false eyelashes which are used by celebrities and pro artists around the world. They have a range of lashes, liners and accessories.

I was lucky enough to have been sent 2 of the Esqido Gel Pencil Eyeliner, both in black (it also comes in brown). The pencil – gel liner offers several benefits including: an intense colour payoff, an ultra-smooth glide with waterproof and long-lasting properties. The liner has a gentle formula, importantly is cruelty-free, not tested on animals.

I have found the liner easy to use – it applies evenly and quickly which is great when I am getting ready for work in the morning – no fuss! Once the liner has dried it becomes water and smudge resistant which I think is really important – you’ll agree with me if you’ve ever had the misfortune of checking a mirror only to discover a big black smudge across your face where you have had an itch and inadvertently disturbed your eyeliner.

I usually wear liner on my lower waterline and although I have found that the liner starts fading after 8 hours of wear I have not been disappointed with its performance. If I think it is getting a little thin on the ground at the edges I simply re-apply.

Keeping the eyeliner sharp with the inbuilt sharpener means it’s easy to create sharp, clean lines – simply twist to dispense more of the pencil and get creative! The airtight ring seal means this liner will last and not dry out. The eyeliner formula is formaldehyde-free and paraben-free which makes it easier on the skin.

When it comes to taking off my make up at the end of the day the Esqido liner comes off easily with an oil-based makeup remover and doesn’t leave a trace on the skin so I can tone and moisturise.

I have enjoyed using the Esqido Gel Pencil Eyeliner as part of my every day make up routine. Overall I love the deep pigment, the long-lasting wear and ease of application which creates a dramatic and eye-catching look. I award it 5 out of 5 stars.
