There are some must-have Christmas treats at my parent’s house where I spend most of Christmas; a multitude of crisps, honey roasted nuts, Terry’s chocolate oranges and traditional candied orange slices.

We also love to make our treats. Over the years we have made and decorated many a massive Christmas cake with many different themes from Alice in Wonderland to Harry Potter. Nothing beats making something delicious with family which you can enjoy together.

Ingredients:

Makes 3
  • 325g bag of milk chocolate chips
  • A variety of Christmas candy
  • 3 peppermint candies
  • Half sphere mold

Directions:

  1. Empty the chocolate chips into a microwave safe bowl and heat in the microwave on high for 30 seconds.
  2. Remove from the microwave and stir very well.
  3. Repeat heating and stiring until the chocolate is fully melted.
  4. Drizzle some molten chocolate into each of the half sphere mold cavities. You can use a spoon to help coat the entire inside of the mold cavity.
  5. Place mold on a plate and set in the freezer.
  6. After 5 mintues remove the mold from the freezer and add a second coat of molten chocolate.
  7. Again, place in the freezer for 5 minutes on a plate.
  8. Warm up a small plate in the microwave for 2 minutes.
  9. Gently removed the chocolate half spheres from the mold and put on the chilled plate.
  10. Place a half sphere upside down on the hot plate for a second, then fill with a selection of Christmas candy.
  11. Take another half chocolate sphere, place it upside down on the hot plate to melt the chocolate a bit, then place the two half spheres together. The melted chocolate will stick them together.
  12. Stick the peppermint candy on top of the chocolate sphere, using a little blob of molten chocolate to get it to stick.
  13. Repeat the steps to make 3 chocolate spheres in total.
