Trip down the Thames

Barracuda InteriorI must admit I have always wanted to jump into one of those Thames Tours, I love sailing and boats (who could forget I got married on one!). When the chance to partake in a Thames Cruise appeared I didn’t hesitate and accepted straight away!

I attended the promotional event on board the Silver Barracuda, showing off the boat’s fabulous potential for events. When stepping onto the boat from the London Eye Pier. I was greeted with champagne, the enchanting sounds of live blues and took to exploring! The interior is deco-inspired harking back to the glamour of the 1930s.Barracuda Interior Leather sofas and fun stools collect around the outer rim of the dance floor offering comfortable seating with a great view both of inside and outside the boat.

We left the pier behind as we sailed West along the Thames, passing a number of tourist attractions and well known buildings. The motion of the boat was smooth despite the somewhat miserable weather! I snapped lots Barracudaof photographs as we chugged along the river, I was a little disappointed that the sofas were a bit on the low side so it was a bit of a stretch to snap out of the window, however, the scenery was incredible. The boat went as far as the Vauxhall area before turning around and heading out towards the East, going under Tower Bridge

We were plied with drinks (a great range of juices as well as alcoholic options), and canapés which were lovely – if a little on the sparse side – it was a bit hard for us to get the attention of the waiters as everyone was keen to mob them as they appeared from the kitchen! I happily spent the evening enjoying the views, refreshments, live music and company.Barracuda

The lavatory facilities on board were surprisingly good – I had expected something very cramped and uncomfortable, however there were 3 toilets for the ladies which were of a fair size. I couldn’t help but enjoy the Molton Brown hand wash and hand creams! Barracuda ViewI did experience a bit of a queue later in the night, however, it was not too slow moving and I didn’t take this away as a particularly negative element.

I would certainly recommend the Barracuda for an event, I could see a glamorous Wedding Reception or any variety of party taking place on board! I believe they are currently trying to get the boat licensed for Wedding ceremonies, so watch this space!
