Review: Netatmo Urban Weather Station

As you may or may not know my husband and bought our first home together at the end of last year and we’re settling in nicely. One thing that became very obvious to us once we’d moved in is the temperature in our flat is always high – which is great in winter but now it’s warming up means we need a lot of fans despite the heating not being on! This is due to our flat having the world’s biggest hot water tank right in the middle of it (albeit it, in a cupboard) so it’s never cold in our flat!

I was recently offered the chance to review the Netatmo Urban Weather Station which monitors your local environment (indoor & outdoor) for CO2 levels, acoustic comfort, humidity, air quality, temperature and more including giving a weather forecast. This sounded like a great chance for my husband and I to check out what actually does go on in our flat, in particular the temperature!

The weather station comes in two parts an internal sensor and an external sensor which are hooked up to your device so you can see the recorded data. It is pretty easy to set up although you do need a computer in order to set up the indoor sensor before setting up the app on your device. However, once set up the weather station starts gathering data from the sensors and displaying them on the app which is really interesting!

As you can see below we got some interesting data from the Netatmo Urban Weather Station – you can clearly see when there are changes in the atmosphere of our flat including temperature which sores in the afternoon when the sun moves across the house and directly shines into our study (where the sensor was positioned), you can also see the humidity.

For us the Weather Station offered us a great insight into the temperature of our study which happens to be where we keep our pet snakes whom require warmth to be comfortable and healthy. We were able to better judge if we needed to use more heating for the snakes by checking the temperature on the app which informed us that the room stays pretty warm during the day and night and so we could adjust the heating accordingly for the snakes.

I have to admit the funniest data was that showing us the sounds in the flat, the sound being at a pretty reasonable low volume until 7:15am – the time my husband usually scrambles to get his things together to leave for work!

I really like the functionality of the Netatmo Urban Weather Station and can see it being useful for anyone who is mindful of the atmosphere around them. The data collected was really interesting and presented in easy to understand graphs in the app for us to interpret. I enjoyed reviewing this item and have given it 4 stars! Netatmo’s Urban Weather Station is now available for £139 at www.netatmo.com , www.amazon.co.uk and Apple stores.
