Review: Airpuff One by Pollyfab (3D Printed Lightweight Footwear)
When Pollyfab got in touch to ask if I’d like to try their Airpuff One shoes, I was genuinely curious. I love anything that feels a bit innovative (hello, 3D printing), but I’ll be honest: I also had a little worry in the back of my mind that 3D printed shoes might feel… sharp? Or stiff? Or just a bit too “plastic” to be comfortable for everyday wear.
I’m happy to report that I couldn’t have been more wrong. The Airpuff One shoes are surprisingly comfortable, and they’ve quickly become the pair I reach for most days — especially during the heat wave we’ve been having recently. Pollyfab positions them as an everyday comfort shoe focused on breathability, lightweight cushioning, and staying cool in hot weather, and from actually wearing them day in, day out, I can see exactly what they mean.
Quick overview (for anyone in a rush)
- Product: Airpuff One by Pollyfab
- Brand: Pollyfab (specialising in 3D printed, lightweight, easy-to-wear footwear)
- Colour I tried: Black
- My usual size: UK 6
- Size I was sent: UK 6.5
- Overall feel: Soft, cushioned comfort without feeling bulky
- Best for: Home, travel, casual summer wear, and those “slide in and go” moments
First impressions: lighter than expected (and not sharp at all)
When the shoes arrived, the first thing I noticed was how lightweight they felt. They’re the kind of shoe you can pick up with one hand and immediately think, “Oh, these would be brilliant to pack for a holiday.” They don’t feel bulky, and they don’t have that heavy, clompy vibe some slip-ons can have.
Pollyfab says the lightest shoe weighs as little as 65g, and while I haven’t weighed mine at home, I can say they genuinely feel that light on your feet — the sort of lightness where you barely notice you’re wearing them.
And about that worry I had — that they might feel sharp because they’re 3D printed — I can confidently say they don’t. The finish feels smooth, and the structure is comfortable against the foot. No scratchy edges, no weird rubbing points, and no “breaking in” period needed.
Sizing and fit: UK 6 vs the 6.5 I tried
I’m a UK size 6, and I was sent the 6.5 in black. I was slightly concerned they might be too roomy, but they actually fit really well — snug enough to feel secure, but not so tight that they feel restrictive.
Most importantly: they haven’t rubbed or caused blisters. That’s the real test for me, because if a shoe is going to misbehave, my feet will let me know very quickly. The Airpuff One has been comfortable straight away, and the slightly larger size hasn’t meant any slipping around or heel friction.
If you’re between sizes, or you like a little breathing room in summer, I can see why sizing up could work nicely — but of course, everyone’s feet are different (and I always recommend checking the brand’s sizing guidance before ordering).
The “slide in and go” factor (and why it matters in real life)
One of the biggest reasons I’ve worn these almost daily is the easy slip-on design. Pollyfab describes it as a one-step “slide in and go” style, and that’s exactly how it feels.
As a mum, I don’t always have the time (or patience) for fiddly footwear. If I’m trying to get out the door, or my three-year-old is already halfway down the path, I want shoes I can step into quickly and trust.

Where I’ve worn them (aka: real life, not just a quick try-on)
I’ve worn these shoes almost every day since they arrived, which is probably the biggest compliment I can give. I’m not someone who keeps “saving” items for best — if something is comfortable and practical, it gets used immediately.
Here’s where the Airpuff One has been with me so far:
- In our new house on carpet (lots of unpacking, lots of walking from room to room)
- In the garden on lawn, gravel, and patio
- Poolside at my daughter’s swimming lessons
- Whilst driving (quick trips and the usual life admin)
Comfort: soft cushioning without the bulk
Comfort-wise, they’ve been a winner. Pollyfab describes the shoe as having a soft, cushioned structure that supports your feet without feeling bulky, and that’s been my experience too.
Steve has seen me wearing them constantly and (in that very practical husband way) asked, “Are they actually that good?” and the answer is yes. They’re comfortable enough that I forget I’m wearing them — and that’s usually my sign that something is a keeper.
They also feel worry-free to wear. I don’t feel precious about them. If I’m stepping onto the patio with a cup of tea, walking across the lawn to fetch something, or doing a quick dash to the car with my three-year-old in tow, they feel like the right choice.
Breathability: staying cool in hot weather
One of the things I love most is how airy they are. Both the upper and the sole use an open lattice structure, which basically means air can flow through rather than getting trapped. In normal-people terms: your feet feel cooler.
That has been especially nice during this heat wave. I’m someone who gets uncomfortable quickly if my feet feel too warm, and these have been a genuinely nice alternative to trainers or anything with a lot of fabric.
They’re the sort of shoe that makes sense for summer: easy, breathable, and simple. I can also imagine them being really handy for holidays — especially if you’re packing light and want something you can slip on for breakfast runs, pool days, or wandering around a rental house.
Grip and stability indoors (carpet counts!)
One thing I didn’t think I’d notice, but actually have, is the stability on indoor surfaces. Pollyfab mentions the grid-style outsole is designed to increase contact with the ground to help improve grip and stability.
I’ve worn them a lot around the house on carpet (new house life = constant moving about), and they’ve felt secure underfoot — which is exactly what you want when you’re carrying laundry, stepping over toys, or doing that slightly chaotic “where did she put her water bottle?” shuffle.
Easy to clean (because life is messy)
Another practical detail I appreciate: the material doesn’t absorb dirt or liquids in the way fabric shoes can. If you get them dirty, you can simply rinse or wipe them clean.
I’ve already worn them in the garden on grass and gravel, and it’s reassuring knowing they’re not going to be ruined by a bit of everyday muck. With a child and a garden, that matters more than I’d like to admit.
Easy to store and pack (hello, travel shoe)
Because they’re lightweight and compact, they don’t take up much space — and Pollyfab even notes you can rotate them 360° to pack. Again, I haven’t done a formal “packing test” yet, but I can absolutely see these being a brilliant holiday companion.
They’re the kind of shoe you could chuck in a bag for:
- A weekend away
- A day trip
- A holiday where you want something easy for the accommodation/poolside
- Keeping in the car for emergencies

Who I think they’re best for
If you’re wondering whether these are the right shoes for you, here’s who I think would particularly enjoy them:
- Anyone who wants an everyday comfort shoe that’s breathable and light
- Parents who need something practical and quick to slip on
- People who hate sweaty feet and want something that stays cool in hot weather
- Holiday packers who want lightweight footwear that doesn’t take up much space
- Anyone who wants a “home-to-garden-to-errands” shoe that feels easy and unfussy
Pollyfab also sees them as a companion for a wide range of daily scenarios, and I’d agree — they’ve been great for:
- Staying at home and relaxing
- Doing everyday house chores
- Light indoor exercises
- Casual parties with family members or friends
Any downsides?
I always try to be honest in reviews, because I know how annoying it is to read something that feels like a sales pitch. For me, the main “downside” wasn’t really about the shoe itself — it was simply my uncertainty before trying them, because 3D printed footwear is still quite new-feeling compared to what most of us grew up wearing.
Once they were on my feet, that concern disappeared. If you’re someone who prefers very structured footwear with lots of cushioning and arch support, you might want to consider what you typically find comfortable (and how you plan to use them). But for everyday, easy wear, I’ve found them genuinely comfortable and practical.
Final thoughts: a surprisingly comfy, cool summer staple
Overall, I’ve been really impressed with the Pollyfab Airpuff One. They’re comfortable, lightweight, breathable, and genuinely easy to wear — and I love that they’ve slotted into my daily routine so naturally. The fact that I’ve worn them almost every day since they arrived says it all.
If you’re looking for a slip-on shoe that feels modern, fuss-free, and ideal for warm weather (or for packing in a suitcase), they’re well worth a look.
