Matchapopup from TeaPigs

I was lucky enough to have been invited to an event for the MatchaPopUp from TeaPigs whom have set up a pop up Matcha store in the Shoreditch BoxPark which is selling all sorts of fantastic goodies with one integral ingredient: matcha which contains a special amino acid L-theanine which works to release it’s natural caffeine and offers a sustained energy boost which lasts for 4-6 hours!

At the event Natasha Corrett from Honestly Healthy made a fantastic green smoothie, a latte as well as an amazing hot chocolate both containing matcha.

TeaPigs offer a 100% organic green matcha tea from the Nishio range in Japan which is grown under shade which increases the chlorophyll which is the key health-boosting part of the tea plant. The leaves are then ground into a fine powder before being packed into tins. The benefit of consuming matcha is that you get all the nutrients from the leaf whereas with normal tea you only drink the water and don’t consume the whole leaf. TeaPigs matcha is 100% natural free from sugars, preservatives and other additives.

Matcha is full of antioxidants, boosts your metabolism as well as giving you focus and energy! Amazingly 1 cup of matcha tea has 15 times the benefits of 1 cup of regular tea. In fact it has:

  • 70 times the antioxidants of orange juice
  • 9 times the betacarotene of spinach
  • 7 times the antioxidants of dark chocolate

You can add matcha powder to a range of foods and drinks including water, milk, fruit juice, smoothies and yoghurts. The popup stall also offers delicious matcha cakes, kitkats, cocktails and bread. Here are some photos I took at the event.
