How SquareMeal Rewards Works (And How I Collect Points)
If you’re anything like me, you love the idea of treating yourself to a really lovely meal out… but you also love getting a little something back for it. I’m all for loyalty schemes that feel genuinely useful (and not overly complicated), which is why I’ve been looking into SquareMeal Rewards.
In this post, I’m sharing how SquareMeal Rewards works, how you collect points, and the simple ways I’d use it to make dining out feel a bit more rewarding.
What is SquareMeal Rewards?
SquareMeal is a UK restaurant booking site (a bit like other booking platforms you might already use), and SquareMeal Rewards is their points scheme. The idea is straightforward: you book restaurants through SquareMeal, dine as normal, and you collect points.
Those points can then be exchanged for rewards (usually vouchers), so it’s a nice way to get a little bonus for something you were going to do anyway.
How SquareMeal Rewards works (the simple version)
Here’s the basic process as I understand it:
- You create a SquareMeal account (or log in if you already have one)
- You book a restaurant that’s eligible for Rewards
- You dine at the restaurant (and make sure you actually turn up)
- Points are added to your account after your booking is completed
- You build up points over time and then redeem them for rewards
The key thing to remember is that you only earn points when you book through SquareMeal and the booking is eligible for Rewards.
How to collect SquareMeal Rewards points
If you want to maximise points without making it a whole project, these are the steps I’d follow.
1. Make sure you’re logged in before you book
This sounds obvious, but it’s the sort of thing that’s easy to miss if you’re booking quickly on your phone. If you’re not logged in, your points won’t track properly.
2. Look out for restaurants that offer Rewards
Not every restaurant will be part of the scheme, so I’d always check the listing before booking. If you’re choosing between two similar places, it makes sense to pick the one where you can collect points.
3. Don’t cancel last minute (and always show up)
Like most booking sites, points are tied to completed bookings. If you cancel, or don’t attend, you won’t earn points.
4. Keep an eye out for boosted points
Sometimes loyalty schemes run promotions where you can earn more points than usual. If SquareMeal is offering extra points for certain restaurants or time periods, I’d absolutely take advantage of that, especially for birthdays, anniversaries, or planned catch-ups.
What can you redeem SquareMeal points for?
Rewards can change over time, but the main idea is that you exchange points for vouchers. If you’re already booking meals out, it can be a handy way to build up credit towards a future meal, or even put it towards something like a special occasion.
I’d treat it as a “nice extra” rather than something to obsess over, but it’s definitely worth doing if you’re a regular restaurant-goer.
Is SquareMeal Rewards worth it?
For me, it comes down to how you already live.
If you:
- Eat out fairly regularly
- Like trying new restaurants
- Prefer booking ahead (especially for weekends)
…then SquareMeal Rewards feels like a no-brainer. You’re not paying extra, you’re just choosing to book via SquareMeal and collecting points along the way.
If you rarely eat out or you tend to book directly with restaurants, you might not get as much value from it, but it’s still worth knowing it exists.
My tips for getting the most out of it
If I were starting from scratch, here’s how I’d keep it simple:
- Use SquareMeal as my default booking option when I’m eating out
- Choose Rewards-eligible restaurants when it makes sense
- Save points for something I actually want (rather than redeeming too quickly)
- Check for promotions before booking for special occasions

Once you’ve chosen your restaurant, pop back to this post and enter using the Gleam widget.
How to enter
