Review: Sparkling flavoured spring water from Heartsease farm

After the indulgences of the Christmas season Dry January has become an event which thousands of people sign up to for taking a break from alcohol for a whole month allowing them to  not only detox but save money, lose weight and feel energised. In the spirit of Dry January I was recently sent some of Heartsease farm’s new range of lightly sparkling flavoured spring water* to try.

The  Heartsease farm lies in a valley among the rolling hills of the Welsh Marches where they draw our spring water from deep sources. The vision behind this pressés range was to make drinks which reflects the heritage of the farm using the best ingredients available from the countryside,  and blended with spring water to traditional British recipes.

The range of drinks are blended with natural flavours and fruit juices in 6 different flavours; Elderflower Pressé, Raspberry Lemonade, British Blackcurrant Crush, Fiery Ginger Beer, St. Clements’ Pressé and the award winning Traditional Lemonade (with no artificial flavours, colours or sweeteners) and are available in 425ml recyclable plastic bottles or and 330ml/ 750ml glass bottles.

I really like that these drinks celebrate traditional British recipes, and could potentially make great mixers with alcohol after January has passed, I think Southern Comfort would work well.

I have to admit I was worried that the flavours wouldn’t be particularly strong, but happily I was wrong – the Blackcurrent Crush was particularly punchy with a deep, bold flavour reminiscent of ribena. I also particularly liked the Traditional Lemonade which had the right balance of sweet and sour and the Raspberry Lemonade which was delicious and refreshing when chilled and served over ice. I think these little bottles would be perfect for a BBQ or an alternative for wine at a dinner party.

One of my favourite things about the range of sparkling flavoured spring water from Heartsease farm is the bottle which, despite being plastic (which is really a good thing when you consider that it is recyclable) they look very elegant, in the shape of a wine bottle.

I really like the sparkling flavoured spring water from Heartsease farm and would certainly recommend it to anyone who is looking to avoid alcohol this January. I award them 4 out of 5 and look forward to trying more of the flavours.
