Review: Patent purple A5 ‘original’ organiser from Filofax

I have to admit that when it comes to being organised I am one of those crazy people who needs to have everything prepared ahead of time and know exactly what is happening where, when and with whom. My poor husband just has to deal with the fact that he married a control freak, although most of the time he benefits from me being his P.A. and organising his time for him.

My best friend when it comes to keeping an eye on my schedule is my Google calendar – but it’s not something one can claim is stylish or particularly helpful with the wi-fi goes down. Lucky for me the lovely people at Filofax came to my aid by offering me the chance to review one of their sophisticated personal organisers, so I jumped at the chance!

I was offered my pick of their range so of course I went for a patent purple A5 ‘original’ organiser which met my favourite colour requirement as well as offering a level of elegance with its vibrant leather cover with patent finish. My Filofax has a simple construction, based on the original Filofax personal organisers produced from the London based company formed in 1921 and I feel great pride in the heritage I carry around in my bag.

The Filofax personal organiser developed from a basic loose-leaf journal and notebook into an indispensable organiser and status symbol for the 80s. Made in England the Original, the style I decided to try, comes in a range of colours and maintains Filofax’s iconic design features with a bespoke button on the leather strap closure, this being an example of the brand’s quality and attention to detail.

My Filofax arrived jammed full of useful pages perfect for people who like to have their contacts, to do list and calendar all in one place. I particularly like the colourful note pages great for jotting down thoughts saving the back of my hand from being doodled on!

Overall I think the Filofax offers any stylish individual the chance to keep their live on track at the same time as showing off a gorgeous heritage diary which wouldn’t be amiss amongst any fashionistas possessions. I give it 4 out of 5.
