Review: Bella Mini Satchel #Bag from Ghost

Every girl loves a new bag, right? So when Ghost offered me the chance to review one of their gorgeous bags I jumped at the chance to learn more about this brand and their products – I chose the Bella Mini Satchel in black*.

Let me tell you more about this London based fashion brand Ghost, which was founded in 1984 by Tanya Sarne and Katharine Hamnett. Classic vintage clothing is Ghost’s trandmark with influences including viscose crêpe, satin and georgette (a sheer, lightweight, dull-finished crêpe fabric) designs, which are adapted each season for freshness, but they do not follow mainstream fashion trends. The name “Ghost” was chosen after Sarne’s business methodology of employing in-house designers to create or “ghostwrite” the collections. In 2005 the founder resigned after the brand was sold and then in 2008 Ghost was sold again to Touker Suleyman of Hawes & Curtis.

The Bella Mini Satchel measures approximately 32cm (width) x 25cm (height) x 9cm (depth) and is the perfect size for a day out or a working day. I admit that I would go for something a bit smaller for a night out for practical reasons, but you could take it out on a date night or dinner and drinks with friends. The bag comes in 4 colours: black, red, navy and a pebble (dark beige).

I really like the look of this bag, in particular all the details that have gone into the materials used and finishes. Having a handle and a strap is a great practical touch making it easy to pick up and move the bag around without having to snatch up the longer shoulder strap. The beautiful padded fabric which makes up the body of the bag has a fantastic feel and gives it a luxurious look about it which really represents the quality of the brand.  I also really like the buckle detail and the fact that the bag actually closes via magnetic poppers which means you don’t have to spend ages trying to buckle and unbuckle the bag like some other brands, making it much faster and easier to access your possessions.

The one thing that bothers me a little  about the Bella Mini Satchel from Ghost is the shoulder strap which I think is a little too long for me (I am 5 foot 6) and I would like to be able to adjust the length, however, the strap does not come with an adjustment option and so the bag will have to remain a little bit too long –  but for anyone taller than me I am sure it would be a good fit.

Other than the length of the shoulder strap I think this is a beautiful and practical bag. I can easily fit my essentials for a day or night out in the satchel and really love it’s style. The magnetic popper option makes this a quick and easy bag to use and the luxury of the fabric and finish makes this a bag any girl would just love to show off. I give the Bella Mini Satchel from Ghost 4 out of 5 stars.
