Subscriptions are all the rage at the moment. It used to be the beauty box which arrived each month with new products in it, and then I heard of the sock subscription service where you get a fresh delivery of snug black socks every month and now there’s Bearded Colonel the razor blade subscription. Yes, their main target market are men, but there’s no reason why us ladies shouldn’t give it a go too.

Bearded Colonel believe that men have been buying expensive and ineffective Chinese made razors for far too long and want to put a stop to it. The Bearded Colonel use premium made razors are made in Germany with the so called ‘Gothic Arch II’ shape which they say is ‘the Rolls Royce of razors’ with an inverted bevel like a barber’s straight razor. This makes the blade sharp and strong. Each shaving head has 5 blades. So what about the handle?

The handle is a sandwich of metal and rubber ensuring grip and the solid metal core giving the handle added weight for extra stability which in turn reduces the chances of cuts. The top layer of the handle is made of textured metal, which gives the thumb more grip without loss of mobility, helping with precision. The handle also has a slight curve designed to fit with the natural curve of your fingers.

My husband gave the Bearded Colonel razor a go, he really liked the extra weight of the handle and the feel of it in his hand.
