New Year Resolutions

For me 2014 offers the chance to make a few changes in my life, changes for the better. I don’t often make New Year resolutions but I wanted to make some differences in my life and 2014 seems like a good excuse!

2014, the year to:

Get healthy

My goal is to lose 25 kilos in weight before the end of the year. I have always struggled with my weight and despite losing a huge 30 kilos a few years ago the weight has crept back on helped by office jobs which unfortunately promote a sedentary lifestyle. I will achieve this ‘get healthy’ goal via 2 different ways: the first being making better food choices, eating less carbs and more fruit/veg. The second way being taking more exercise to which end my husband and I have already signed up to the local gym and aim to go as many times as possible per week!

1

Get social

What with a full time job in the City it’s hard to keep up with friends and family and so I want to try and implement regular slots to see those closest to me. I want to set up a monthly catchup for my friends where we can get coffee, lunch or do some sort of activity on a regular basis to ensure we keep up with each other’s lives. Additionally I would like to spend more time with my husband, away from other people, at the moment we have irregular ‘date nights’ and this is something I would like to do on a more regular basis.

2

Get crafty

Something that has suffered due to my lack of free time/ being too tired or lazy(!), is my love of crafts and baking. I love making things and have tried a number of crafts in the last few years including dusting off the old knitting needles as well as learning how to crochet. This year I want to dedicate some time to craft projects and hopefully incorporate more hand-made items into gifts for my friends & family this year. I would also like to try a new recipe each month to make more delicious treats for my husband and friends.

3

Get musical

Not many people know that I was a very talented flautist when I was younger, I unfortunately stopped playing my flute when I started University and it’s something that I now miss. My goal for 2014 is to start playing my flute again on at least a weekly basis to try and get back ‘in shape’. When I was younger playing the flute was more about passing grades and playing in concerts which I saw as a chore, however, now I am more mature I would like to pick my flute back up and play just for me as it is something I really loved before it became more of a forced activity.

4

Get global

I would like to visit 2 new places in 2014 – I have started exploring more of the world since my amazing European tour Honeymoon in 2012 and I am eager to continue this adventure this year!

5

I really hope that I can stick to the 5 resolutions above, I believe each one will bring me happiness – so here’s to 2014!
