Must Watch Football this Weekend

When it’s cold and grey outside the desire to go outside tends to wane, which is a bit of a downer for anyone that loves to play sports. The good news is that there are lots of sporting events to watch on TV or Livestream from the comfort of your cosy sofa. Football never stops, whether it is the Premier League, Champions League or the international games there is almost always some action to watch on television.

Games on this weekend

This week the World Cup 2022 qualifiers continue across Europe and South America with matches between England and Albania (ITV), Italy and Switzerland (Sky Sports Red Button) and Uruguay vs Argentina (Premier Sports 1) on Friday 12th November.

World Cup 2022 qualifiers continue this weekend, Saturday 13th with Belgium playing Estonia (Sky Sports Premier League), France facing off against Kazakhstan (Sky Sports Red Button) and Wales vs Belarus (Sky Sports Main Event). Elsewhere, the much-anticipated match between Tottenham Hotspur Women and Arsenal Women in the FA Women’s Super League will be taking place. Be sure to catch it on BBC. You can find all the latest football scores online.

On Sunday, still with the FA Women’s Super League and FA Women’s Championship, you can see Durham Women vs Liverpool Women (The FA Player), Man City Women against Chelsea Women and Everton Women vs Man Utd Women (Sky Sports Premier League). In the afternoon you’ll find more World Cup qualifiers, including Luxembourg vs the Republic of Ireland (Sky Sports Football), Portugal vs Serbia (Sky Sports Red Button) and Spain vs Sweden (Sky Sports Premier League).

There are many more exciting matches next week including more World Cup qualifiers along with Women’s Champions League and FA Women’s League Cup games.

Hosting a match day

If you take Football very seriously then why not throw your own matchday party? It doesn’t take long to decorate your TV room with your team’s colours, either by making your own decorations or finding some online or in the shops. Adding some bunting or flags will make a great atmosphere.

Of course, you need to make sure that you and your guests are comfortable so bring out the blankets, cushions and footstalls to make sure everyone has the perfect seat. Make sure you only invite a number of people that can actually comfortably fit in your space!

You can’t enjoy match day without amazing food and drink! Have two beers available, one light beer and one heavier/seasonal offering and two liquors, I suggest vodka and bourbon which are perfect for mixing up cocktails. Of course, don’t forget some non-alcoholic options for drivers.

When it comes to food it’s a good idea to serve appetizers at the start of the game and bigger dishes at halftime. Serve the prerequisite chips and dips but why not try something different alongside? Chicken wings are an easy go-to, sliders are great finger food and how about veggies and hummus for a healthier option? You’ll find lots of matchday food recipe ideas online to help you out.

Consider having some little activities ready at hand if the game gets a little slow. Placing little wagers during the game makes for some friendly competition with your buddies. You can even have your own penalities like situps for missed goals etc. For halftime break out some quick play games such as Bang! The Dice Game, Jenga or cards against humanity to keep the competition and excitement going.
