Michael Jackson’s Wardrobe Exhibition

Being a child of the 70’s and 80’s, I grew up with Michael Jackson and his music, I still get a shiver when I listen to it and an involuntary reaction to move to the rhythm takes over me!  When I heard that Getty Images in Westfield Stratford were hosting an exhibition “Michael Jackson’s Wardrobe”, I felt that excitement all over again, at the chance of getting close to him through his extravagant fashion and actual costumes he wore throughout his career.

I was heart broken at missing out on the concert and seeing the greatest ‘King of Pop’ of our time Michael Jackson, in the flesh since he died over 3 years ago.  So… ‘This is It’, my chance to get close to him again.

Michael Jackson was a music legend and god!  His talents resided in song writing, composing, dancing, choreography, record producing, acting, being a businessman and his adventurous fashion and style keeping him at the forefront of pop culture through the recent decades.

I was lucky to be invited to the exhibition launch party at Getty Images and got to meet Michael Jackson’s double, see the dance group from Britain’s Got Talent adding a great humorous angle to the evening and the opportunity to be close to and touch MJ’s clothes.   There was music, amazing collection of photographs displayed and available to purchase, his wardrobe of iconic costumes and fashion artefacts by designer Dennis Tompkins laid out in glass cabinets.

To all of you die-hard fans, you must see this exhibition.  It is on till 17th November at Getty Images in Westfield Stratford.  It makes a great day out at the Gallery, with at least a glass of wine after it or even to wonder into whilst shopping at Westfields Shopping Centre.
