How to glamp in a tent

Since becoming popular in 2007, the idea of glamping has been firmly embedded in the holiday industry as a way to experience camping without compromising on luxury. Glamping is a combination of “glamour” and “camping” and can encompass a variety of types of accommodations and budgets. If you would like to explore glamping on your own terms here are some tips to get your set-up started.

Finding a big tent

The camping market is full of tents with different features and specialities. When glamping you need to consider the amount of space you want to have with all of your luxuries. Bell tents are the most popular option when it comes to setting up a roof over your head, however, they can be pricey.

If you are looking for an alternative, consider buying a tent that is usually meant for more people to give you extra room for your belongings.

Set up a cosy sleep space

Sleep is an important part of our day usually, but being able to get a restorative sleep when camping can be more difficult to achieve.

The most important part is the bed itself. An inflatable air bed can provide the comfort of a hotel bed but the convenience of being able to pack it away when not in use. The next layer is pillows and there is nothing better than the feeling of a plump pillow after a day of adventuring.

For that added touch of home, packing a brightly coloured throw can add a splash of colour and add a sense of style as well as warmth if the nights feel a bit cold.

Brighten things up

Adding a few strings of fairy lights can instantly transform your tent. Lanterns can also be a great way to light up the area around your tent – perfect for sitting outside as the sun sets, chatting and laughing with your friends.

Another option for lighting is outdoor tiki torches. Not only will these add a touch of tropical flair, but they will also help to keep any unwanted bugs away from you.

If you are using lights that need to be plugged in then you may want to invest in a generator. Not only will you be able to light your space, but you will also be able to charge your devices to make sure you don’t miss capturing a moment of the trip.

Eat your heart out

As much as a hot dog over a fire is great, when you are glamping you might want to opt for some more gourmet food options.

Obtaining a reliable camping stove is a great way to cook versatile meals – you can use the same generator to power your lights and an electric stove. If you have a slightly bigger budget you could look into getting a camping oven. This will further widen your menu and mean every taste is catered for.
