5 Budget Valentine’s Day Ideas

We wanted to share 5 budget Valentines day ideas with you to help make your day go successfully. A budget Valentine’s day can be just as much fun as if you were having a luxury Valentines day.

Cinema Night In

Going to the cinema can be quite expensive, so having a cinema night at home is a good alternative. If you have kids, shove them to bed a little earlier than normal. But some comfy blankets over the sofa and choose a movie to watch. With Netflix, Amazon Prime, Britbox and all of the other streaming apps, you have so many to choose from. Make sure you choose the movie before Valentines Day. Otherwise, you will spend too much time on your date night, choosing something to watch. If you find something to watch on Amazon Prime, but you don’t subscribe, you can take a trial membership. Just make sure you cancel it afterwards, otherwise, you will be billed for the next year.

Buy some tiny ice cream pots to snack on, and some popcorn in a cardboard box to give the authentic feel. Switch the lights off and start the movie. Then curl up together and relax as you enjoy your cinema date night.

Meal For 2 At Home

We all love to go out for dinner, but going out has lost its charm since Covid 19. Nobody really wants to go out, so eating at home has become just as much fun. It can be as exquisite as you like, or a simple fakeaway.

If you are going for the whole exquisite and classy meal, then you need to prepare it a few days beforehand. Think about the table setting and how you can make it special for your partner. Get the best dinner set out and have candles on the table. Place candles in the centre on a mirrored coaster, they look beautiful and you can set your table around it. Think about some rose petals or little love heart decorations.

For the meal, you can usually buy a supermarket Valentines day special offer 3-course meal for about £10. But you can also make one from scratch, which will be unique. You can recreate your first meal together, or try something completely new.

If you go for a fakeaway, choose your favourite takeaway food and recreate it from home. You can easily buy takeaway cartons and packaging from Amazon or places like Poundland. When your fakeaway is cooked, pop it into the containers and serve as it is.

Jar Of Love

This one of our Valentines Ideas will need to be thought of a few days beforehand. You need some coloured paper and a glass jar. It is so simple to make this and it makes a really thoughtful gift for your partner.

You need to cut some hearts out of the coloured papers, if you have a Cricut, this is easily done. But if you don’t, it will just take a little longer to cut them out. When you have enough, write little messages on them. You can write reasons why you love your partner or you can simply write why you are thankful for your partner. Fold the hearts in half and place them in the jar.

When your partner is feeling fed up or is missing you, they can open the jar and take out a message to read. Even after Valentine’s day, you can keep writing little heart notes to pop in the jar.

Picnic At Home

Picnics are cute and romantic, and even though the weather is rubbish in February, you can still have an indoor picnic. If you have an open fire, then it can be an incredibly romantic gesture for your partner. Put on some romantic music to get the evening started. This really is a simple romantic date idea for Valentine’s day and it doesn’t cost much to set up.

To make it more romantic make some Valentines cupcakes for your picnic, You can even buy heart-shaped bowls to put your picnic food in. Get a bottle of your favourite drink, set up a picnic and see how the evening progresses.

Write Them A Poem

Is there anything as romantic as a poem that is written by your partner? So write them a poem, let all of your feelings spill out on paper. It doesn’t have to be a long poem, just a few lines are enough to explain your love to them. It doesn’t even have to rhyme on every line. But it is the thought that will count, and this is the most thoughtful gift.

You can write the poem on paper and get it framed, or stitch it onto a cross-stitch. You can even just write it on a card for them to put in their purse or wallet.
