Review: SodaStream Jet Sparkling Watermaker

SodaStream Jet Sparkling Watermaker

As part of my new regime to get slimmer and healthier I have given up Pepsi which is a really big thing for me because I used to drink it almost exclusively. I could easily get through 2 litres of Pepsi per day which was obviously not doing anything good for my health.

The problem is when you give up something you have relied on for so long what do you replace it with? The answer, much to my chagrin, is water! Unfortunately, I have never really liked drinking plain old water so I was struggling with the idea of it being my only option for quenching my thirst and decided to try sparkling water which I started to buy as part of my weekly shop instead of the soda.

Now, there is nothing wrong with buying water from a shop but I came to realise that if I just drank water from my own tap I would be saving money and making my life that much easier. So I had another think and realised that I could make my own sparkling water at home using tap water with a gadget which I had fond memories of from my childhood: a SodaStream!

I put one on my Christmas wishlist and whilst I was waiting for the big day my mother decided to buy one too so that I could drink sparkling water at her house when I visited. Yay! She bought a SodaStream Jet Sparkling Watermaker in the Amazon Black Friday sale and I was super excited when it arrived.

The SodaStream machines infuse water with gas to create sparkling drinks for as little as 17p per litre, much cheaper than from the Supermarkets. A bonus of using SodaStream carbonating bottles which come with the machine (and you can buy extras) can save up to 2,000 plastic bottles and cans per year which is fantastic for the environment.

The good news is that you don’t just have to drink plain water, SodaStream offers a variety of flavour mixes you can add to your sparkling water to boost the taste including sugar-free Zero mixes which is great for me as I recently gave up sugar. My favourite flavours are Pink Grapefruit and Cranberry & Raspberry from the Zero range. Yum!

Each SodaStream comes with a 60-litre gas cylinder which makes up to 60 litres of sparkling water. It is easy to install and once it is empty you simply replace it with a new one.

So, how have I been getting on with the SodaStream Jet? I am happy to report that I love it! It is simple to use and produces sparkling water in a matter of seconds. Simply fill the bottle up to the line (any more and the bottle might overflow during the process), place it on the machine and snap it into place and choose from three options for the amount of bubbles you desire and the machine does it thing. Once finished, remove from the machine and add some flavour or simply enjoy on its own.

I have really enjoyed the SodaStream Jet Sparkling Watermaker and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an easy way to replace unhealthy drinks. I am happy to award it 5 out of 5 stars.
