Valentine’s day with Lékué Chocolate Fondue

Nothing says Valentine’s Day like sharing delicious chocolates with those you love and for me, one of the best ways to do that is by enjoying a fondue!

Having originated in Switzerland, fondue was traditionally made with melted cheese into which bread was dipped. Over time there have been a few different variations with chocolate, unsurprisingly, becoming one of the most popular.

I was lucky enough to have been sent a Choco Fondue kit from Lékué to review this Valentine’s Day, a kitchen accessory that allows you to melt chocolate and make a fondue without the rigmarole of using a pan or a bain-marie and keeping the molten chocolate warm for a surprisingly long time!

The kit comes in two parts; a rigid plastic pot in which sits a flexible silicon top with sunken sections to hold the chocolate. Also included is a set of 4 handy forks for dipping, with a spoon at the other end for mixing.

Simply add water to the bottom pot, up to the maximum line, place the red silicon on top and add 125g of chocolate to each section. Put in the microwave for 3 minutes, remove and mix, and microwave for a few more minutes until molten and smooth. The water in the bottom pot will remain hot and will keep the chocolate from solidifying whilst you enjoy your fondue!

I used white, white/milk mix and milk chocolate in my fondue with marshmallows and strawberries for dipping but there are lots of options: pretzels and biscotti are also really great for dipping, as are most fresh fruits, so mix it up! Click here for more dipping ideas.

I really enjoyed testing out the Lékué chocolate fondue kit which as proven itself to be a quick and easy way to set up a romantic Valentine’s Day treat. I award it 5 out of 5 stars.
