Review: Simply Be Gingham Bardot Skater Dress

I have recently been feeling that my wardrobe needs a bit of an update, with the nicer weather on the way I wanted to start adding a few new nice dresses into my collection so I have something new and exciting to wear.

One of my go-to online fashion shops is Simply Be, I really like their range for the curvier woman and you can pick up some really great pieces in the sales. Whilst browsing for something new I came across this black and white gingham check bardot skater dress and fell in love with both the eye catching pattern as well as the off the shoulder style neckline – so I had to have it!

I have to admit that I tend to be a bit of a cheap skate, so when I saw the dress was listed for £25 I grumbled a bit over the price (I am always looking for the best deal), but decided that because I liked it so much I would just go for it!

The Simply Be Gingham Check Bardot Skater Dress is an off-the-shoulder skater dress made from a soft jersey  fabric which is comfortable to wear. I really like the shape of the dress, it has a very flattering fit-and-flare shape which accentuates all the good areas by cinching in the waist and helps to hide the not so good ones. It is machine washable which makes it quick and easy to clean.

I also really love the retro style with the bardot neckline apparently being on-trend for this summer. One of the main reasons why I love this neckline is that it gives me the chance to show off some of my tattoos which you otherwise can’t see under my clothes! Match this dress with heels and some bling for a night out, or some cute sunnies and a hat for a casual picnic with friends.

One thing that does bug me a bit about this dress is that the fabric does not line up nicely across the seams, which makes it look like a cheap garment. You can clearly see in the photo below that around the waist the black/white pattern does not match up which looks altogether untidy. However, this is the only negative point I have about this dress.

I award the dress 4 out of 5 stars and look forward to wearing it this summer.
