Review: Pure Food Freeze Dried Cat Food

Pure Food Freeze Dried Cat Food

My 3 cats have always had the same dried food and sometimes I find myself wondering if they might enjoy something different from time to time, so I was happy when I was offered the chance to try out Pure Food’s selection of freeze-dried cat food.

Pure makes their pet food from 100% fresh human grade ingredients in Yorkshire and have developed a range of ways to bring quality nutrition into their customer’s pet’s diet. Pure use technology to freeze-dry their recipes which allows them to better preserve meat and offer a raw food diet without the preparation and with no need to store in a freezer. Just add water and serve!

The cat food range includes Surf & Turf and Whisker Lickin’ Chicken. I was sent a 200g box of each to try.

Surf & Turf

Just as you would expect from its name, Surf & Turf is a cat food recipe made by combining freeze dried chicken and white fish with vegetables to make a grain and potato free superfood meal. A lot of work goes into the nutrition of the Pure foods and Surf & Turf is made up of protein, chicken & fish, which also offer B vitamin niacin, selenium and omega-3 fatty acids. The vegetables in the recipe supply carotene for vitamin A, fibre, phytonutrients, vitamins C and K, folate, potassium and manganese. Salmon oil is also included which is rich in omega-3 & omega-6 fatty acids that can help to boost the immune system and give your pet a glossy coat and healthy skin.

Whisker Lickin’ Chicken

Cats love chicken, so the Whisker Lickin’ Chicken flavour is perfect for our feline friends. Again, this recipe is grain and potato free combining quality chicken with vegetables for a boost of protein and antioxidants. The chicken provides protein as well as  B vitamin niacin and selenium. The mix of carrot, egg and spinach offers vitamin A, choline (good for brain function), fibre, vitamins A, C, E and K, thiamin, vitamin B6, folate, calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, copper, and manganese. Whisker Lickin’ Chicken also includes coconut and salmon oil which offers a boost of vitamins E and K as well as omega-3 & omega-6 fatty acids to promote healthy skin, coat and metabolism.

So how did my cats get on? It is certainly easy to make up a meal, simply follow the amounts and directions on the box. At first, my cats were a little sceptical of the new food but after a moment or two they took the brave step to try it and after few minutes the bowl was empty, a sure sign of success!

If you are looking for an easy way to give your feline friend the best possible nutrition I would certainly recommend the Pure range and award it 5 out of 5 stars.
