Review: Personalised #skincare from In Situ Cosmetics

If you’ve been following my recent uptake of a weekly skin care regime then you’ll know that I have been trying out lots of new skin care products and sharing the results. So far I have been impressed with the products I have used so when In Situ Cosmetics offered me a chance to try out one of their personalised cosmetics I jumped at the chance to try one of their face scrubs*.

2015-01-12 20.34.57In Situ Cosmetics is against the idea that we should be using mass produced products which may sit on shelves for months in the store and is working on promoting a new concept of customised skin care giving users the control of the products we buy, powered by our individual needs, with the skincare products containing fresh active ingredients to deliver actual results.

Shockingly the on-shelf products are on average 12 months old at the time of purchase and many active ingredients have already lost their full potency. In Situ Cosmetics offers more than 300,000 combinations of their personalised skincare formulations using luxurious ingredients yet free of parabens, sulphates, colours & SLS.

The process for creating your personalised skincare is choosing what type of product you want – face, body, sports,  eye, cleanser, exfoliator, super serum or essence. You can select your preferred texture:  Butter, cream, lotion or gel and then choose the desired action you want your product to do.

This is great if you have a particular concern, my skin is particularly sensitive and dry so I chose a face scrub which is hydrating and protective as well as uplifting and stimulating which are the elements I selected for myself, and of course it is formulated for dry skin.

I really like the texture of the scrub which comes in a gel texture and has a lovely fragrance with jasmine, rosewood and bergamot  which is certainly uplifting and the natural micro-beads work to remove dead skin and impurities. Quillaja extract in the scrub is used for cleansing, moisturising and skin conditioning properties and helps smooth and revitalise the skin whilst the ground pumice rock gently removes the dead cells and buffs the skin.

I have to admit that when I first put some of the face scrub into my hand I was a little concerned that the pumice, which feels quite fine, wouldn’t be enough to satisfactorily exfoliate my skin. I have been disappointed in the past with products which I don’t really feel working, but the In Situ Cosmetics product felt surprisingly satisfying on my skin and once I had rinsed off my skin felt really smooth and soft.

Not only do I really like the product but I think the packaging is lovely too. I like the blue and silver look and it’s cute that it came with my (albeit misspelt) name on it. My face has never felt so smooth and I will certainly be using this product in my weekly facial sessions, I award it 5 out of 5 stars.
