Review: Loom Band Refill Kit From Rainbow Braid #crafts

If you follow me on instagram you would have seen a lot of loom bands recently. Yes, that’s right, I have eventually succumbed to the latest crafty craze and have been spending hours trying to perfect various designs – mostly using YouTube videos to guide me along. When the people at Rainbow Braid asked if i’d like to review their huge kit of 5,400 loom bands* I jumped at the chance to add to my colourful collection!

Rainbow Braid was started by Louise Fox, the founder of Paper and Twine and  is dedicated to providing the best products that can be enjoyed by kids and adults alike. Louise’s first success was with a set of 8 colorful liquid chalkers, since the launch she has received hundreds of happy reviews from customers.

As I mentioned, this is not a small kit, but it is made up of more than five thousand bands in a range of colours including: Bold, Glitter & Fluorescent, all individually packaged which means that there is no color bleed from the bands. Additionally they have worked on improving the smell (which can be plastic/chemically) by using better quality material alongside a special airing process in manufacturing with the bags having been designed with airing holes.

Check out some of my loom band experiments in the photo below. I will certainly be checking out Rainbow Braid’s own collection of video guides to broaden my creative horizons!

Each package includes 300 bands in the following shades: solid (red, white, purple, turquoise, black, light blue, dark blue) – fluorescent (yellow, green, blue, pink, orange, purple) – glitter (pink, blue, purple, orange, green). I am particularly fond of the glow in the dark bands! All of the Rainbow Braid bands are compatible with other kits and looms.

Despite having just celebrated my 28th birthday, I think it’s important to share that these bands have been independently lab tested byR.I. Analytical Laboratories Inc in the US and have been pronounced safe for kids after being shown to contain no lead or phthalates. Loom bands, despite being popular with adults, has been a major trend for children and I think this safety is a really important consideration when looking for gifts for children.

One thing that really annoys me with loom bands is when they rip or ping broken during construction or when worn, so far I have not had this problem with these bands which has certainly kept me happy!

I am awarding the Rainbow Braid loom band kit 4 out of 5 stars for bringing some more colour variations and fun into my life!

To check out these bands for yourself you can purchase via Amazon, or if you are based in the US via the website.
