Review: Dominican Hair Care Alter Ego Coconut Mask

I love a good hair mask. You might have noticed that I have tried and tested a few here on my blog alongside my skincare products. So when  Dominican Hair  offered me the chance to review the Alter Ego Coconut Mask* I was happy to try something new!

Dominican Haircare are the specialists when it comes to exciting, innovative high quality  hair care for all different hair types to help craete glossy, lustrous and undeniably healthy hair.

The Alter Ego Maschera Ristrutturante Al Cocco Coconut Conditioning Mask is an Italian product widely used in Dominican hair salons. It comes in a very practical, generously sized tub which I feel would be at home in the bathroom poised and ready to go. The amazing Coconut fragrance is so strong that it actually comes through the tub!

The Coconut Conditioning Mask is recommended for hair which has been damaged via colouring or other chemical processes and has nourishing ingredients designed to soften and detangle hair, leaving it supple, pliable and strong. I really love the smell and texture of this hair mask, it feels very much like an aqueous cream which is liquidy and wet to the touch but not greasy and easily applies to hair.

I have to admit I was quite generous taking a couple of scoops and applying on my hair. I liberally covered my hair all over, from root to tip, and left it to soak in for 10 minutes – the tub simply says leave it for ‘a few minutes’ so I suggest either using it for a few minutes on a regular basis, or leaving it for longer for a bigger pampering session. I then washed my hair in my usual way.

So, the results? I can’t stop running my fingers through my hair! It certainly feels softer, silkier and healthier and looks much better than before. My hair is often dry but after using the Coconut Conditioning Mask it feels better hydrated and happy.

I will say that my hair was a bit frizzier than usual, but I expect a few minutes with  straighteners would sort that out no problem. This could also be due to my blow drying my hair, rather than waiting for it to dry naturally.

Would I recommend this product? The overwhelming answer is yes. My hair looks, feels and smells great and I even managed to convince my husband to try it! I award the Dominican Hair Care Alter Ego Coconut Mask 5 out of 5 stars and will be using it on a regular basis from now on.
