Review: Detoxifying Salt Scrub from Charcoal Spa

Based in the High Street in Gillingham, Kent Chulo Naturals is a British beauty and skin care producer who focus on handmade products with the star ingredient being charcoal which draws unwanted toxins from the body (amazingly charcoal can absorb more than 100 times its own weight) – perfect for skincare – and is taking the skin care industry by storm.

Chulo Naturals offers a range of freshly made products including creams and scrubs and I was recently offered the chance to review one of their products – being a lover of a good scrub, I went  for the detoxifying salt scrub* which is made with 3 different types of salt as well as the key ingredient activated charcoal. 

I have to admit that I was a little shocked when I opened the lid of the scrub when I was met with a shiny black mixture with visible chunks of salt – but of course, with the use of charcoal in the mix the dark colour did make sense when I had come to my senses! I suppose I have been ruined by other more mass-produced scrubs which are usually pale in colour.

I must admit that there’s nothing worse than a scrub which doesn’t feel like it’s actually doing anything. I like to be able to feel a scrub working, it makes me feel more confident in its ability to actually polish the skin and remove any dead cells. I was definitely happy when I felt the course Himalayas sea salt working it’s magic, which balanced out the disconcerting feeling of rubbing a muddy black product on my clean skin!

So, the result? I am very happy. After using the detoxifying salt scrub my skin feels soft and beautifully polished. As someone who suffers from dry skin particularly in winter I aim to use the scrub once a week as recommended, to help me keep my skin in tip top condition. I certainly recommend this product to anyone looking to improve the look and feel of their skin, particularly to anyone who needs help to detox and cleanse – don’t be put off my the colour, this scrub is pure dark magic.
