My favourite 90s TV shows

Walkers, the UK’s favourite crisp brand, has teamed up with iconic girl group, Spice Girls, for a nostalgic throwback to the 90s in its new TV advert that looks to find Walkers Spice Girls Best Ever Fan, during the girls UK tour.  The Super Fan is faced with a tricky decision when baby spice asks for a crisp! Watch the Ad below to find out what happens!

This collaboration between Walkers and the iconic 90s girl power band has made me think back to this era, particularly the television shows that I used to enjoy in my childhood as crisps were one of my top tv snacks.

As a child of the late 80s most of my early memories come from the 90s and I have fond memories of watching TV with my family. Today I am going to share a few of my favourite TV shows from this period.

  • Captain Planet
    • Gaia, the spirit of the planet, assembles a team of humans who can combine their powers to summon an elemental warrior, Captain Planet, who works with the Planeteers to defend Earth from pollution caused by criminals and villains. I love the message behind this kid’s show!
  • The Magic School Bus
    • We follow teacher Ms. Frizzle and her class as they set off on field trips in their Magic School Bus which transforms into a plane, submarine, spaceship or surfboard to take the class on super adventures and teaches them about science. This series was also turned into a collection of computer games which I loved playing.
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
    • Who didn’t love the heroes in the half shells? After a mysterious radioactive ooze mutates four sewer turtles into talking, upright-walking, crime-fighting ninjas they work together to defeat evil.
  • Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
    • I have to admit I am still a huge fan of the Power Rangers! The original TV sees Zordon a good doing, evil-fighting entity recruits a team of teenagers in order to to help him recapture Rita Repulsa, a space villainess. Each episode sees the Power Rangers defeating evil and learning important life lessons.
  • Saved by the Bell
    • Saved by the Bell follows the adventures of students at California’s Bayside High School. The students, a mix of jocks, nerds and beauty queens, navigate relationships, final exams, school dances, breakups and more while frequently frustrating their principal.
  • Dawson’s Creek
    • Released in 1998, Dawson’s Creek follows a group of American teenagers in a small coastal town coping with adolescence including navigating high school, sex, family drama and one hell of a love triangle. Pacey was always my favourite but I think he should have ended up with Andy!
  • The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
    • This was a favourite of my husband’s too The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air sees a young Will Smith taking on the character of a streetwise, poor young man from Philadelphia is sent by his mother to live with his aunt, uncle and cousins in their Bel-Air mansion. Episodes follow the ups and downs of this extended family with Will’s lifestyle often clashing with the lifestyle of his relatives.
  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer
    • I was a HUGE Buffy fan, I’ve even seen the very bad movie which pre-dates the series. The series follows the new girl at school, Buffy – the Slayer, whose duty it is to guard mankind against vampires, the demons and the forces of darkness. We follow her as she and her friends thwart all manner of evil creatures and wayward humans, fall in love, fall out of love and grow up. Who could resist David Boreanaz as Angel?

What are your favourite memories from the 90s?
