Lunch at Strada

After our trip to the Valentino exhibit at Somerset House, we wandered across Waterloo bridge in search of lunch. It was pouring with rain and everywhere was packed! We were lucky enough to slip into Strada on the South Bank just before it started to get super busy!

We ordered some flat breads with various toppings, garlic and rosemary for me which was really lovely and just what I needed after being in the cold and wet! Deciding on a lovely fruity rose to accompany our lunch we ordered our mains.

I ordered the Contadina (apparently the waiter’s favourite) made up of goat’s cheese, caramelised balsamic onions, roasted peppers, aubergines and fresh rocket. The pizza was a good size with delicious ingredients and a crispy base. With some olive oil drizzled over the top it was perfecto!

My friend Alex had the Fiorentina – baked with garlic, a soft egg and a hint of nutmeg, and then topped with fresh spinach and Parmesan. I have had this pizza before and really enjoyed it, which Alex seemed to do too. Who couldn’t enjoy a pizza with an egg on top?

My sister decided on the Strozzapreti Pugliese, a classic dish from Puglia. Traditional hand twisted strozzapreti pasta, Luganica sausage, pancetta, and broccoli, with red chilli butter and Grana Padano cheese. I loved the look of the hand twisted pasta! So cute!

We finished our meal off with a nice comforting coffee before battling with the weather once more!
