Give up smoking with E-cigarettes

Back in 2008 when I met my husband in the University of London student union bar he was a smoker. I have never smoked and have to admit that I never imagined myself dating someone who smoked. Eventually my concern for his health and my general dislike of smoking convinced him to give up and he did the manly method of going cold turkey which in hindsight probably wasn’t the best way to go about it.  I believe he still sees cigarettes as calming as he has been known to sneak the odd cigarette during periods of stress (such as sitting his Osteopathy exams).

I believe that if he had tried another approach to giving up smoking he might have kicked the habit for good, so when Vapelux got in touch to tell me about their range of vaping solutions I felt like this was something worth investigating. Most people know what vaping is and what an e-cigarette looks like these days as the trend for vaping has grown over the last year with the vast majority of users being either current or former smokers using vaping to help them quit smoking or to cut down the amount of cigarettes they smoke.

E-cigarettes deliver nicotine smokers crave in a much less harmful way with Public Health England revealing that they were 95% less harmful than real cigarettes. While nicotine is the hook that smokers (and most vapers) crave, it is the tar and other noxious substances in a cigarette that do the most damage. Smokers don’t just find it hard to give up the nicotine, but also to break the ‘habit’ which is the psychological part of giving up. Nicotine patches, gum and lozenges all deliver nicotine but do nothing to help with these psychological pulls which non-smokers like myself find hard to understand. E-cigs feel similar in the hand, the nicotine is delivered to the back of the throat as with smoking tobacco, and the user even breathes out a plume of vapour that looks like smoke which helps the user with the psychological aspects.

Amazingly I have seen that vaping hasn’t just joined the range of anti-smoking methods but has actually become somewhat of a trend and fashion statement with many companies offering sleek and stylish e-cigarettes which even come in sets with elegant chargers and different types of e-liquids (the liquid solution that produces a flavoured vapour when heated inside an e-cig), offering a range of aromas and flavours. You can even purchase e-liquids without nicotine for when you’ve kicked the addiction but want to keep the ‘habit’. There are many different models of e-cigarette from those designed for beginners those produced for vaping veterans.

Having browsed the site out of curiosity my husband really likes the look of the Innokin Coolfire IV Plus iSub Apex Kit which is both attractive and ergonomically designed for maximum comfort and convenience. The kit comes complete with everything an e-cig user needs including an innovative iSub Apex tank (the e-liquid container) system designed to avoid spillages, high-quality charging cable (a micro USB much like a smartphone charger) and replacement parts.

The Innokin Coolfire IV offers flexible vaping solutions for individual tastes with the ability to vary the voltage from 2.0 to a high of 7.5 volts with the wattage ranging between 6.0 to 70.0 watts. This alters the output of the e-cig from as low as o.1ohms, producing greater amounts of vapour as desired by the user. This would certainly be a good option for my husband who still sneaks a cigarette from time to time and may help to put this bad habit to bed at last.

Have you tried vaping? I’d love to hear your stories in the comments below.
