A Cruise Through Central America

If the thought of relaxing by the pool while your cruise ship carries you to the faraway islands of the Caribbean or Honduras appeals then a cruise should be your next holiday choice. Central America definitely has more than its fair share of beautiful beaches as well as offering some diverse sightseeing for those considering a multi-stop ocean voyage.

From the tropical shores of Jamaica to diving in the crystal clear waters of the Cozumel — a trip to Central America will provide some unforgettable travel experiences.

A relaxed travel option

Millions of people take advantage of cruise deals to international ports of call each year. The benefits of such stress-free travel where you can visit multiple destinations but only ever have to unpack once, plus the on-board facilities, have made this one of the most popular ways to see the world. Following the sun to your next port means you’re pretty much guaranteed great weather and need only pack your favourite stylish linen shirts, bathing suits, a chic sunhat and sunglasses. Central American countries and the islands are hot the best part of the year, if not all of the year round, so expect to sport a healthy sun-kissed look not too long after departure.

The island life

One of the main bonuses of this type of holiday is that you have a number of countries to choose from. You can visit Caribbean islands such as Jamaica where you’ll stop off at the windswept beaches of Montego Bay, enjoy a dip at the famous Dunn’s waterfall or take a trip to Negril where you can watch romantic sunsets from Rick’s Café. Combine Jamaica with a trip west to island of Roatan, the largest of the Honduras’ Bay Islands — the beaches are as pristine as they come and the waterfront restaurants serve the freshest seafood dishes. If your ship docks anywhere along the Mosquito Coast you’ll have a beach to yourself, since there are literarily hundreds of miles of white sand coastline in this beautiful part of the world.

Diver’s favourite

If you have a passion for diving, swimming with dolphins and love a lively nightlife atmosphere then be sure to include a stop at the island of Cozumel, just off the coast of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. Gorgeous spots such as Palancar Beach and the diving sites at the Chankanaab National Park make this a much-loved port of call. You can also take interior island excursions to view the ancient Mayan ruins of El Cedral, which dates back to 800 A.D. This island is well known for its nightlife and there are lots of live music venues and nightclubs, although if you’re looking for a more subdued evening then simply visit a quiet little bar overlooking the Caribbean Sea.
